Astrology of the March 2021 Full Moon

Astrology chart for the Full Moon of 28 or 29 March 2021
Astrology chart for the Full Moon of March 2021, set for Chicago, Illinois, USA

The Full Moon will be at 8° Libra 18′. As the zodiac sign of Libra is ruled by Venus, this Full Moon is ruled by Venus.

Venus is currently in the sign of Aries, where it is in detriment. This is because Aries is ruled by Mars, which is the antithesis of Venus. As it is at 8° Aries, though, it is in the Egyptian bounds of Venus, which does give it some dignity (improves matters).

Adding to the Venusian flavor of this Full Moon, Venus itself is closely conjunct the Sun and is beginning a whole new cycle. This Venus conjunction with the Sun is the superior conjunction (the inferior conjunction is when retrograde Venus conjoins the Sun).

As Venus is still within one degree of the Sun, it is said to be Cazimi, or in the heart of the Sun. A planet being Cazimi is said to be strengthened. Usually, when a planet is within 15° of the Sun (know as under the beams), it is overshadowed or hidden by the Sun’s brightness. When a planet is Cazimi, it is the exception to the rule.

Venus will move beyond the Cazimi in the very early hours (12:48 am C.D.T.) of Tuesday, 30 March. Venus will then remain under the beams (too close to the Sun to be seen) until 22 May.

Full Moons are about culminations or high points; they are also about endings. With this Full Moon, we may see endings and peaks associated with the natal houses where Libra is in our charts. Simultaneously, Venus is beginning a new cycle in the natal house where Aries is in our natal chart.
